Payment is to be made at the end of each session by cash or cheque. Alternatively, families can pay through a bank transfer, as long as this is received within 48 hours of the session. There will be a charge of £20 for families where payment is delayed without warning.
Mileage is added for distances further than 10 miles, round trip, from The Kenn Centre (Kennford, EX6 7UE) to the address at which your child will be seen (e.g. home/nursery/school). Additional mileage is charged at a rate of 45p a mile. An additional charge will be applicable when travel time exceeds 30 minutes (round trip) as estimated on Google Maps.
2. Private Medical Insurance
Should families wish to use private medical insurance to pay for some or all of the input received, it is their responsibility to make this claim. Speaking Sense is unable to claim directly from insurance companies. An invoice can be provided on request.
It is understood that families may need to cancel an appointment due to illness or unforeseen circumstances. Please cancel appointments at least 24 hours in advance to avoid any charge. Appointments cancelled within 24 hours can rarely be filled. An allowance of one late cancellation (under 24 hours) is allowed without charge (per therapy block) though following this, a fee of £20 is applicable for every missed appointment. Where no prior notice is given (on the same day) families will be charged for the full session.
Should the therapist have to cancel, an alternative date will be arranged as soon as possible.
Families can make referrals to the service and are asked to contact Speaking Sense directly to discuss this.
5. Sharing Information
With your prior consent, information about your child’s needs will be shared with other professionals, such as education staff, to ensure the best outcome for your child. This information may include assessment findings and recommendations. You need to be aware that if any information is disclosed in the session that suggests that the client or any other person (adult or child) is being harmed or could be at risk of harm, this information will be discussed with the Safeguarding Authority, and your permission does not have to be sought.
6. Professional Affiliations
The Therapist is a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT), Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Association of Speech & Language Therapists in Independent Practice (ASLTIP). The Therapist has a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check (formally Criminal Records Bureau) and is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office. Written proof can be obtained upon request. If I am working within your child’s school, they may wish to apply for a DBS check themselves or may want to see a copy of the current certificate.
Before an initial assessment, families are asked to sign a declaration to confirm that they have understood and agree to these terms and conditions. This will also include information regarding consent to treatment and sharing of information.
